So, I have been doing a piss poor job of keeping up with the site. I worked on the garage the other day – here’s a quick before and after (B&A, duh). As you can see above, the garage was an unorganized shithole. Greg has a knack for never picking up a tool or piece of trash during a project. Add to that another car and all my random crap, and that’s the mess you get. I had some parts to put on my car so a clean-up was a must.

Hulk Smash becomes a refined gentleman!  Here is the starting point for the bodywork.  It doesn’t look too bad – straight rust free body.  At this point, I had big plans.  You will see how those unfold.  As I mentioned before, the green doors are rust free replacements for the original white doors.  Also, in this pic, you can see the grey primer on the trunk.  Here is how that came to be:

Lincoln, Nebaska, played host to the 2009 SCCA Solo Nationals after out bidding Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka, Kansas.  There is probably more to the deal than that. All I know is that it was there, and now, it is here.  Yay!  With it being held in our hometown, it would be silly for us to miss it.  So, I met Greg at AirPark after work, and we caught the end of the days action.  We watched a few runs then headed to the pits to take a closer look at the cars.  Here are a few of my favorites from the day:

This was by far the coolest car of the SCCA Finals, for its good looks of course. (insert sarcasm cue here)  This car was built for one purpose – to shave every second off the clock possible.  The polished feel of a show car is entirely absent, and is replaced with a deep race vibe.  There is no fancy gauge cluster, just the essentials, oil, temp, voltage, tach.  Who needs windows?  Just the front according to the rules(even it was made of lexan).  The rear suspension was held partially together with duct tape, but it still looked solid.  All the rear trailing arms are so thin they almost look flimsy, all of which attach back to the cage.

The SCCA Finals have come and gone for this year, but there are a few pictures I took that I felt were worth sharing…

BIG WINGS Unite!!!

Everyone and their brother was hunting for that extra bit of downforce, though the more ghetto the set up the better…

This was my favorite of the day, strictly based on the amount of fun they had with it.

With the engine out, I wanted to clean up the bay before putting the rebuilt engine in.  It’d be like taking a shower then putting on dirty drawers; you just don’t do it.  So, it was washed and degreased…

Thought I would do a real quick “How to” today.  I am guessing some of you have wheels you would like to polish the lip on or maybe the whole wheel.  I am also guessing you have noticed it has a clear coating over the polished area.  How do you get that off without sanding and making more work for yourself?  Strip it!

Good-bye, GReddy turbo kit.  Hello, cash moneys!!!  Selling the turbo kit put me in a spot of having a good chunk of change in my pocket and not a definite plan on what to do with it.  Prior to selling the kit, I had saved up some money and bought/installed some other neat stuff.
